“It’s all broken down. Big Business, religion and classic sounds. The world is not what it was. We forget about love”  Jonny Porter

Life is full of challenges. Economic difficulties, serious illnesses, family problems, and political unrest plague people on a daily basis. How a person faces each challenge that comes their way however, says a lot about their character, who they are on the inside. Some people draw strength and inspiration from the experiences of others. Artists such as Jonny Porter help and inspire people to face and overcome life’s many challenges through the words of their lyrics. Such music helps people to see they are not alone in their struggles and that it is possible to overcome their problems. Drawing influences from artists such as Ben Howard, Kings of Leon and Dallas Green, Jonny Porter’s music is his own unique blend of Rock and Folk.

Canadian singer songwriter Jonny Porter launched his music career in late 2008 by joining the hard hitting Raggae/Rock group Staylefish as their drummer. After years of touring North America, and sharing the stage with the likes of Down With Webster, NOFX, The English Beat, Alexis on Fire and many more, Jonny chose to leave the group, to focus on his solo career.

In 2014, Jonny released his debut EP “…And Your Lovers Closer.” Although never officially released, it was made available for streaming online. Over the following months Jonny performed the EP in support of critically acclaimed artists Rik Emmett of Triumph, The Wild! and Ko, to name a few.

In the summer of 2015, Glenna Mitchener began managing Jonny’s Porter’s flourishing career. Jonny started working on his sophomore record which would see him fine-tune his craft as a songwriter. Jonny has recently hired Ross Hayes Citrullo and Renan Yildizdogan to produce his upcoming record. This brought his music to new and previously unexplored heights. Soaring harmonies, edgy rhythms, and poetic lyrics blend to ignite a musical experience that is both emotional and unforgettable.

“The Faces start to contort, a nauseating reality. Worst infliction sets in with Normandy inside of me.” are the lyrics by Canadian musician Jonny Porter on “1944”, the definitively bleak opening track to his upcoming record “Grave Birds”. It sets the tone for the rest of the tracks that cover themes such as love lost, self-destructiveness, and struggles of daily life.

Physical Copies of Jonny Porter’s debut full length effort “Grave Bird,” will be released on Gypsy Soul Records through Jonny Porter’s official website this January 7, 2017. A digital release to Itunes, Amazon, Spotify and all online music retailers will follow on March 17th through Fontana North Distribution.
